Redefining Five-Star Hospitality Across Iconic Destinations
Captain C.P. Krishnan Nair established the luxury hotel brand The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in India in 1986. The Leela Mumbai was the company's first establishment. The business, which bears his wife Leela's name, combines contemporary luxury with the Indian philosophy of "Atithi Devo Bhava" (Guest is God). With its headquarters in Mumbai and 12 award-winning properties in India—including New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Gurugram, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Kovalam, and Ashtamudi—the Leela is currently owned by Brookfield Asset Management following an acquisition in 2019. There are also plans to expand to Hyderabad, Sikkim, and Agra.
The Leela, which reflects India's varied traditions, is renowned for its lavish architecture, verdant surroundings, and captivating cultural events. In addition to delivering individualized services like the famous Leela Palace Service with butlers, its portfolio includes famous palaces, city hotels, and tranquil getaways. The brand routinely ranks among the best worldwide and was twice chosen by Travel + Leisure USA as the World's Best Hotel Brand (2020, 2021). The Leela offers remarkable stays that perfectly embody India's spirit by fusing sustainability, wellness, and culinary excellence through partnerships like Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Global Hotel Alliance.
